Choose a dependable team-call workflow

Start with who needs to join and what must happen during the call. Test the actual meeting application with the devices your participants use.

When the free tool is enough

The free microphone check records up to six seconds for local playback after you start it. It cannot certify a meeting app, test a remote participant's sound, assess network reliability or guarantee a successful call.

When to consider a larger workflow

  • Guests outside your organization need a predictable joining process.
  • You need screen sharing, captions or other accessibility support.
  • Your team needs an agreed process for recordings, transcripts and access to them.

Your requirements checklist

  • Joining: test guest access, browser support and account requirements.
  • Devices: verify the intended microphone, speakers or headset inside the meeting app.
  • Collaboration: try screen sharing and the controls a host actually needs.
  • Accessibility: assess available captions and keyboard access in the real workflow.
  • Recording: agree how participants are informed and who can access, retain or delete recordings.
  • Costs: check host seats, guest limits, call duration and recording storage.

Verify before choosing

Hold a short practice call with two participants using the intended devices. Check joining, speaking, listening and screen sharing. If recording is needed, agree on it first and verify playback and access afterward.

Use the local check to prepare your microphone. Choose calling software only after trying the participant and host workflow you actually need.
