In our July 2026 re-verification of 87 tools, the clearest pattern is a split: AI-adjacent dev tools quietly raised prices (Linear Basic $8→$10, Bolt Pro $20→$25, Pipedrive Premium $49→$59), while identity/auth platforms dramatically expanded free tiers to win developers (Auth0 7,500→25,000 free MAU, Clerk 10,000→50,000 free MRU). AWS replaced its classic 12-month free tier with a $100–$200 credit model for new accounts.

Pricing pages change quietly. Aggregator sites copy each other's stale numbers, and by the time you notice, your budget model is wrong. So in July 2026 we re-verified the official pricing of all 87 tools in the ToolPick dataset — not from other people's roundups, but from each vendor's own pricing page, with an independent spot-audit pass on top. This is what actually changed.

How we verified this (and what we threw out)

Every claim below traces to an official pricing page consulted in July 2026, or — where vendors block automated access — to two or more independent sources that agree. A second, independent audit pass re-checked a sample of the findings and caught three errors before publication, including one where a secondary source's "corroboration" turned out to be a stale number that simply agreed with another stale number. Those corrected figures are what you see here. Our full process is documented in how we review, and every tool page on ToolPick now shows its own last-verified date.

One honest note: two tools (Shopify and three others' individual sub-facts) could not be verified cleanly and are excluded from this report rather than guessed at.

The headline table: what changed

Pattern 1: dev tools with pricing power are using it

Linear's 25% entry-price increase is the cleanest signal in the dataset: a product with strong developer mindshare moving its floor from $8 to $10 without changing the product story. Bolt's Pro jump from $20 to $25 (plus a new per-member Teams tier) fits the same shape — AI-era dev tools with retention are re-pricing upward, quietly, on the annual-billed headline number.

Pipedrive did it with more camouflage: a full rename (Essential→Lite, Advanced→Growth, Professional and Power merged into Premium, Enterprise→Ultimate) that carries a $10/seat increase on the merged Premium tier. Renames make historical price comparison harder — which is precisely why we keep dated records.

Pattern 2: auth platforms are buying developers with free tiers

The auth market moved in the opposite direction. Auth0 tripling its free tier to 25,000 MAU and Clerk quintupling to 50,000 MRU is a land-grab: identity is a lock-in product, and both vendors are betting that free capacity today converts to per-user revenue at scale. If you evaluated either tool in 2025 and walked away over free-tier limits, that math is obsolete.

Worth noting: Clerk also changed its billing metric from MAU to MRU — retained users — which is genuinely more favorable to apps with transient signups. Metric changes like this matter more than the headline number.

Pattern 3: "free tier" is becoming "trial credits"

AWS's change is the structural one. New accounts no longer get the classic 12-months-free model; they get $100 in signup credits (up to $200 with earned credits) that expire in 6 months, after which the account must upgrade or close. Thirty-plus services keep always-free allowances, but the era of parking a hobby project on a fresh AWS account for a year is over. Render, Railway and Fly.io pricing pages show the same credit-based thinking — worth modeling before you commit a side project's stack.

What didn't change (verified, not assumed)

Confirmation is data too. Among tools we verified as unchanged: Calendly (Standard $10/Teams $16 annual basis), Airtable (Team $20/Business $45 annual basis), Watcha-style stable pricing across most project-management incumbents, Claude Pro at $20, and ChatGPT Pro at $200. Where a vendor's number matched our stored record, the tool page's verification date was updated anyway — so "unchanged" on ToolPick means checked, not ignored.

Every row links to the tool's full pricing breakdown with per-seat cost tables at 1/5/10/25/50 users, sources, and the exact verification date. If you're budgeting a stack, start with the pricing hub or model the whole stack at once with the stack cost calculator. Found a price we missed? Tell us — factual corrections jump the queue.

Frequently Asked Questions

How was this pricing data verified?

Each tool was checked against its official pricing page (or 2+ independent corroborating sources when the official page blocks automated access) in July 2026, with a second independent spot-audit pass on a sample of the findings. Changes that failed the audit were excluded rather than published. Sources are listed per claim, and each tool's page on ToolPick shows its verification date.

Which SaaS tools raised prices in 2026?

Among the 87 tools we track, confirmed 2026-visible increases include Linear (Basic $8→$10), Bolt (Pro $20→$25), Pipedrive (Premium $49→$59 annual-billed), and Doppler (free tier cut from 5 to 3 users with $8/user beyond). Several others changed plan structure rather than headline price.

Which tools expanded their free tiers in 2026?

Auth0 expanded its free tier from 7,500 to 25,000 monthly active users, and Clerk moved from 10,000 free MAU to 50,000 free MRU (monthly retained users). Both are competing hard for developer adoption in the auth market.

Did AWS remove its free tier?

Not exactly. For accounts created after 2025-07-15, AWS replaced the classic 12-month free tier with a credit model: $100 at signup plus up to $100 more in earned credits, usable over 6 months. 30+ services keep perpetual always-free allowances. Older accounts keep the legacy model.
