Worked example: find a repeated word and finish a draft
Choose Try writing example in the checker to load this short draft. If the editor contains your writing, copy or save it, then choose Clear editor first.
Clear writing starts with one useful idea. A clear goal keeps each writing session focused.
- The draft has 15 words. Find one word is set to
clear, which appears twice, ignoring case. - The target is 20 words, leaving five. Add

and choose Check words & goal. The current total is now 20. - To try returning later, choose Save on this device, clear the editor, then Restore saved text.
Saving replaces the one snapshot already saved in this browser. Skip saving the example if you want to keep your existing draft.
Choose Clear editor before starting your own draft. Nothing is saved automatically. A word count shows length, not the quality of the writing.

Use Save on this device in the editor. On your next visit, choose Restore saved text. Saving replaces the previous snapshot; clearing browser data removes it. New changes are not saved automatically.

Why might another word counter show a different total?
This tool counts runs of Unicode letters and numbers, including internal apostrophes. Hyphens split words. Characters count Unicode code points, including spaces. Different counting rules can produce different totals.
Can I find a phrase or return to my saved draft on another device?
Search matches one complete word without case sensitivity; it does not search phrases. Saved drafts stay on this browser and device. Copy your text to keep it elsewhere. Clear saved text deletes the saved copy after confirmation while leaving the open editor intact.
